NEW! WELCOME  CIRQUE DU SEWER

The world's only acrobat, rat, and confused cat show! Welcome Cirque du Sewer Saturdays and Sundays July 8 - 30 for the most unique comedy acrobatics that must be seen to be believed! Watch her video: http://www.cirquedusewershow.com/video/

ChiIL Mama's ChiIL Tips:

  • Most food and craft vendors are CASH ONLY so bring ye olde wallet so you don't have to waste your day in the cash station line.
  • Dress up as much or little as you want. All are welcome in historical garb, fantasy costumes, pirates, magicians, Dr Who, Scotts in kilts, steam punks, and 2017 summer clothes. Don't let the lack of a corset keep you home. Shorts and t-shirts are just fine. Though people watching is prime and the costume creativity of the crowds is one of our favorite elements of ren faire. We've seen all the usual characters plus Greenman, a garden gnome, mythical monsters, knights in full armor, and more!
  • Of course everyone has their own favorites but our family favs for activities are scaling the castle, the barrel, and the Pirate Catapult. Fun fun!

  • Our family favs for entertainment are The Swordsmen, Barely Balanced, and The Jousting.
  • Nothing beats a Mile High Chocolate Crepe for a sweet treat!
  • Don't miss the closing drum circle/dance party on the green. It's always a fun way to close out the day's festivities.
  • Take a last stroll past the food vendors near closing time. Sometimes they're deeply discounting or even giving away tasty treats.
  • Bristol Renaissance Faire is a great multigenerational outing with fun for all ages.

2017 SEASON
BRISTOL RENAISSANCE FAIRE CELEBRATES 30 YEARS

Voted the #1 Renaissance Faire in the Region Set to Open July 8

Voted “Best Renaissance Faire” for the sixth consecutive year in 2016, the Bristol Renaissance Faire will open Saturday, July 8, for nine weekends through Labor Day Monday. This summer’s 30th annual Bristol Renaissance Faire promises the same perennially popular compliment of 16th Century merriment, music, food and games that have earned top national honors from subscribers of Renaissance Magazine and the Renaissance Festival Podcast, along with some unexpected twists.

Let the Games Begin!

In celebration of the city’s 30th Anniversary, the Lord Mayor has declared an ever-changing series of competitions – and we invite you to compete! Some require skill but most of the games have both feet firmly planted in the ridiculous. The Bristol Games promise to enliven the streets with the spirit of friendly competition up to three times daily. Every game is different and no result is staged. Join a team and lead your group to victory!

Visitors will enjoy fresh wonders throughout the Faire in honor of the 30th Anniversary. New shops dot the lanes, stages have been freshly dressed, and the very streets have been regraded with accessibility and mobility in mind. The Faire continues to offer a diverse menu to accommodate guests’ ever-expanding tastes, and our revitalized Kids’ Kingdom provides a welcome respite for families to escape the bustle of the main lanes and enjoy a fantasy world specially designed for little hands and curious minds.

Six new thrones have been installed at the entrance of Kids’ Kingdom for the ultimate photo-op experience. One must see the design and detail of these handcrafted thrones to truly appreciate the artistry. Colorful, bold and Instagram-worthy, the throne room is sure to be a popular stop for Faire guests this season. Perch upon the one of your choosing – dragon, witch, steampunk, ……for the perfect, unique selfie!

Bristol debuts a new theme weekend this year: RennCon™. Celebrating a shared love of extensive research and skilled recreation of costuming, the Faire welcomes cosplayers of all genres to a weekend convention experience like nothing you’ve ever seen before. Panels, cosplay photo meet-ups, special guests, and a costume contest with the largest prizes the Faire has ever awarded are all in store for the biggest costume party Wisconsin has ever seen!

Hilarious Acrobats, Daring Sword Fights… and a Rat!

The sixteen Bristol entertainment stages feature nonstop music, feats of daring stunts and an eclectic assortment of comedic performers who invite their audiences to become part of the act. Joining Faire favorites, including Dirk and Guido, the comedic sword-fighting duo known as “The Swordsmen,” ropewalker, juggler and foolish mortal MooNiE the Magnif’Cent, Guinness World Record-holding fire whip artist Adam Crack, the Barely Balanced acrobatic comedy troupe, and the Sturdy BeggarsTM Mud Show®, are Cirque du Sewer, the trained rat and confused cat show, Jamila Lotus Dance Carnivale, and the crowd-favorite gut-busting antics of the Washing Well Wenches.

Among this summer’s special musical guests, the explosive music group, Duende, will appear the weekends of July 8 – 30; the Musical Blades, a high-energy minstrel troupe, will perform Saturdays and Sundays August 5- 13 and Clan Tynker will arrive with its unique brand of family circus for Bristol’s four final weekends beginning August 12.

One-of-a-Kind Wares

Bristol’s Marketplace offers a depth of unique shopping experiences that can’t be found anywhere outside the country’s top Renaissance faires.  Nearly 200 artisans and crafters display wares ranging from stage-combat-approved swords and handmade chain maille to Scottish kilts, handcrafted leather masks, tapestry wall hangings, sterling silver jewelry, rare-edition books, hand-caned brooms, bamboo flutes, even Steampunk adornments and even jester socks. Often, patrons have the chance to watch potters, glass blowers, bowyers, blacksmiths and other working artisans create their wares on-site.

Expanding upon the interactive nature of the Bristol Marketplace, Queen’s College transports crafters and history buffs alike into an immersive environment where they can learn a rotating variety of 16th Century arts from basket-weaving and candle-making to chain-maille construction.

Live Action Role Play with RenQuest™
My family tried the adult version of RenQuest™ for the first time in 2015 and it was a great challenge! The riddles and requirements are harder than we thought and my son and I really felt like we accomplished something by the time we got to the final meeting place. If you're going to play, start first thing in the morning and know it'll be an all consuming challenge so you won't have time for a lot of shows, shopping or other activities. Highly recommended.

Bristol’s ever-evolving live action fantasy-play game, RenQuest, is one of the most highly anticipated events of the Faire season. Celebrating it’s 10th season in 2017, RenQuest provides guests the opportunity to stop watching the story and live it. The interactive theatrical gaming experience offers players an unprecedented opportunity to become a hero or villain and change the fate of the city by completing quests, honing skills and defeating monstrous enemies. The game spans the entire 30-acre Faire site and employs 45 non-playing characters dedicated to enriching the fantasy experience.

Kids’ Quest provides the Faire’s younger patrons, ages 4 to 11, the opportunity to embark on their own age-appropriate adventures helping Pinocchio become a real boy and fixing mistakes in other fairy tale stories. Guests can begin Kids’ Quest at any time before 4 p.m. each day. Parents must accompany children on the quest.

Taking its framework from the summer day in 1574 when Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth visited the English city of Bristol, the Bristol Renaissance Faire is open for nine weekends. Located just west of I-94’s Russell Road exit, near Kenosha, Wis. Open rain or shine, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., every Saturday and Sunday, July 8 through Sep. 3, and Labor Day Monday, Sep. 4.

Tickets are $25.95 for adults and $11.50 for children, ages 5 to 12. Advance ticket discounts are available at RENFAIR.COM, and participating Walgreens stores.

Bigger, bolder and more boisterous than ever, this summer’s 25th annual Bristol Renaissance Faire promises patrons an unparalleled celebration, filled with all the first-rate revelry Faire-goers have come to expect over the past two-and-a-half decades and a queen’s ransom of special surprises. More than 200,000 visitors are expected to attend Bristol’s special anniversary celebration, which begins July 7 and runs for nine weekends through Labor Day, Sept. 3.

“We’re going to party like it’s 1599,” said Linda McFeters, producer of the Bristol Renaissance Faire, promising streets brimming with a commedia del arte kaleidoscope of frolicking fools and masquerading merrymakers who will sweep patrons into a world far removed from the stresses of the 21st Century.

Sagezilla rocks the Steampunk Invasion weekend at Ren Faire 2011

Complementing a perennially popular array of jousting knights, swashbuckling swordsmen, mud beggars, rope-walkers, period dancers and musicians, the season will be one of the most extensive line-ups of special entertainment the Faire has ever assembled, including limited-engagement appearances by many of the most sought-after performing groups on the national Renaissance fair circuit. Travelling to Bristol for the first time this summer will be the explosively-entertaining steampunk bagpipe group, Klaxton, and juggling juggernaut London Broil. Also announced, the all-female Seelie Players will lure audiences with their debut of “Sirena: From Down Below We Sing,” an original musical tribute to the Sirens of Greek legend, featuring tribal drums and staffs, lithe dancing and all-new music.

Among favorite guest headliners returning to Bristol on select weekends to help celebrate the Faire’s 25th anniversary are Doktor Kaboom, with his side-splittingly funny scientific diversions, Celtic rock phenomenon Tartanic, and the Clan Tynker family circus, an enchanting cacophony of music, juggling, magic, sword-swallowing, fire-eating and dangerous stunts. Also returning this summer is a performer who literally turned heads during her 2011 debut, aerialist Lauren Murray, who suspends herself from the treetops above the Faire in a graceful and gravity-defying silk act.

For 25 years, the Bristol Renaissance Faire has been captivating visitors with an incomparable spectrum of experiences, from unabashed revelry to first rate people-watching.  For those who want to check their inhibitions at the gate, there’s ample opportunity to whoop and holler at jousting knights, get down and dirty with raucous, earth-clad mud beggars, or hurl a ripe tomato at a blustering braggart.  Those inclined toward more serene pursuits will find a comparable bounty of enjoyments, from watching glass-blowers create one-of-a-kind works of art, to joining in a round of 16th Century court dancing, or listening to the dulcet tones of world-class minstrels.

Among the most popular attractions at the Faire for the past four seasons, Bristol’s live action fantasy-play game, RenQuest, will return this summer with an entirely new storyline. RenQuest brings the worldwide phenomenon of multiplayer online role-playing games, like World of Warcraft, into the live action dimension of the Renaissance faire,  creating an interactive theatrical experience that offers gamers an unprecedented opportunity to test their mental and physical skills beyond the realm of their computer screens.

For the Faire’s youngest patrons (a.k.a. “nipperkins”), Kids Quests provide two daily opportunities to embark on their own, age-appropriate adventures. Kids Quests set out from the vicinity of Bristol’s Kids Kingdom, an enclosed play area filled with oversized sand boxes, a huge climb-aboard pirate ship, and an entertaining cast of Renaissance fairytale characters presiding over interactive games, crafts and other child-friendly activities.

Festivities at the Faire take their framework from the summer day in 1574 when Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth visited the English hamlet of Bristol. Queen Elizabeth and other historically based characters are juxtaposed with fictional scenarios, such as the popular street-fighting escapades of Robin Hood and his Merry Men. Faire streets are lined with game and ride areas, food vendors offering a palate-pleasing array of epicurean delights, and merchants selling everything from sterling silver jewelry to rare-edition books and hand-caned brooms. Strolling minstrels, jesters and other era characters mingle with faire-goers, many of whom come dressed in their own period costumes.
Located on 30 wooded acres, just west of I-94’s Russell Road exit, near Kenosha, Wis., the Bristol

Renaissance Faire will be open rain or shine, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., every Saturday and Sunday, July 7 through Sep. 2, and on Labor Day Monday, Sep. 3. Tickets are $19.95 for adults and $9.50 for children. Advance ticket discounts are available at renfair.com or (847) 395-7773.
