ABC Wednesday...Q is For...R is For

CircEsteem birthday tradition-a clown pie to the face.
Can't beat the classics!
Quirky, quixotic, quintessential...

Circus arts may be seen as all of the above.   It's an unconventional, romantic choice and may be seen as impractical, odd-ball, and eccentric.    But the kids and adults who practice circus arts are quick on their feets...and quick thinking--juggling balls, rings, bowling pins and life with finesse.   They're quiet when doing physical comedy, stage combat and clowning routines, and they're quite adept at making others laugh.   The sky's the limit when they soar on trapeze, or climb silks, Chinese Pole or Spanish Web!!   We adore circus arts and never plan to quit.

ABC Wednesday & Weirded Out Wednesday--L is for......

LOL and do a double take!
L is for Local art, Little creepy babies, and Look out attachment parenting--it's Rosemary's baby for the new millennium.

Just in time for Halloween....today's photos are doing double duty as our L for the ABC Wednesday meme and our first contribution to Mom-Mom-Mom's new Weirded Out Wednesday feature.   We spotted these creepy babies in Chicago at Wizard World's Comic-Con out in Rosemont.  We are a bit inundated with event business cards and I can't find theirs at the moment, but I will post the website info if it materializes.   If anyone knows, please feel free to add it to our comments section.   Googling creepy Chicago babies got me nowhere, and the card is MIA.

Halloween is one of our all time favorite holidays of the year.    But what's scarier than gory costumes to me is the imminent advance of the avalanche of Christmas.   We bought a rapidly selling out Blackhawks ornament yesterday, and attended a preview of holiday offerings at a local toy store.    We are already getting Christmas e-mail and it's just October 5th!

So, slow down and enjoy the changing colors of the midwestern foliage.    Make some apple cider.   Scare up a fun costume for Halloween.   Read some ghost stories.    And check out some fun posts over at Weirded Out and ABC Wednesday.

G is for...

Green hair, great handmade Mexican wrestler masks, and goofy art at Boulevard Bash last weekend.

Chicago's fest season is still going strong.   The Boulevard, a smallish Logan fest, now in it's 2nd year, had an impressive line up on 2 stages.    We were especially interested to see Smoking Popes and Liquid Soul playing Friday and Sunday respectively.

C is for Cotton Candy

Mmmmmm.    Pure, spun sugar and garish food coloring.    What could be more fun to eat?    The blue tongued skink effect rocks, too.    I can't remember the last time we bought cotton candy before last weekend.   It had been years.   But we had a fun, girls day out at Chicago's Navy Pier with Sagezilla and one of her BFFs, Ruby, so we splurged.    First, we all saw Chicago Shakespeare Theatre's amazingly excellent production, The Adventures of Pinocchio  (playing through August 28th).   Then we had lunch, bought matching hair clips and robot mood bracelets for the girls, and yes....indulged in a tasty blue treat.
