Officially Licensed Building Toys by K’NEX Will Allow Kids to Build & Play in the Plants vs. ZombiesTM World #PvZ2android

K’NEX® Brands And PopCap Games, A Division of Electronic Arts, Announce New Licensing Relationship

ChiIL Mama is elated to be working with both PopCap Games and K'NEX. I've been a PopCap Blogger for years and I've had a long running relationship with Plants Vs. Zombies and their many other awesome games.   We got to attend a Plants Vs. Zombies party last Sunday to celebrate the release of their new Android App hosted by Little Tech Girl, Kris Cain.

This year we've also been chosen to review numerous new K'NEX kits for the holidays with Toys R Us Moms!   Squeee!!!!    So check back with ChiIL Mama like we vote in Chi, IL... early and often for loads of fun toy & game reviews, giveaways and more.

We'll be reviewing the following & more:

ChiIL Out with the hottest band in the land... KISS & roadies too!!   We can't wait to build this one and do a video review for our readers.   Get up. And get your grandma outta here (and over to Toys R Us to buy you a set, if you're lucky!)   Now the next generation of rock tots can combine retro fun with building & role play creativity.

My husband was a member of the KISS army as a kid and I remember their distinctive face makeup was THE most popular design at all the fairs & carnivals that featured face painting.   Ah... the 70's.   There may be a few big "kids" with this kit on their wish list, too.

Yay!   The Beatles have become a staple of our culture and a favorite for all generations.   Take your own magical mystery tour with The Beatles Yellow Submarine.

We'll have a full video & photo filled feature on each of these in the very near future.

On that note, we love it when our friends play well together.   They're not out yet (fall 2014 release expected), but something fun is coming...   We put this out on Facebook/Twitter when they first announced in August.   But we're pretty stoked about it, so we'll give you the heads up here in a blog feature as well.

Worlds Collide Alert:

Plants vs. ZombiesTM fans will soon be able to build and play with characters from their favorite game with new licensed building toys by K’NEX®. PopCap Games (a division of Electronic Arts), creator of the popular gaming franchise and K’NEX, the only U.S. construction toy company focused on Building Worlds Kids Love®, are pleased to announce their new agreement to create a line of building toys based on the Plants vs. Zombies games.

The relationship combines the award-winning K’NEX building system with your favorite Plants vs. Zombies characters, bringing them from the
digital screen to the construction aisle for the first time.
With over 30 Game of the Year awards, Plants vs.

Zombies is a global brand that is popular across the U.S., Europe and Asia, and appeals to male and female audiences ages 4 through 104.

“Plants vs. Zombies Building Sets from K’NEX will bring these exciting characters to life in a new way,” said Michael Araten, President of K’NEX Brands. “Children of all ages will have the opportunity to build the Plants vs. Zombies neighborhood they love right in their own homes. Just like in the game, the builder will meet, greet and defeat legions of fun-dead zombies with a powerful army of plants! I can’t wait to see how fans will take their digital game skills and use them in the real world!”

K’NEX will provide a sneak peek of the new Plants vs. Zombies building sets at NY Toy Fair in February 2014, and the K’NEX Plants vs. Zombies product line will become widely available in the Fall of 2014. Sets will include popular characters from Plants vs. Zombies such as Sunflower, Wall-nut, Peashooter, Zombie, Mummy Zombie, Pirate Zombie and other popular elements from the game. Designed for children ages 5+, the building sets will bring the fun of the games to life and expand its appeal through a rewarding, age-appropriate K’NEX building experience.

Day #9  TUESDAY 12/11/12  WIN 3 of our favorite video games for PC or Mac/Wii/DS ($86 value).  Click on the game name links for ChiIL Mama's past coverage.

*Plants Vs. Zombies for PC or Mac by PopCap(Game of the Year addition with special bonus content) ($20)

*Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock by Activision for Wii ($30)
Santa brought us a Wii unit for Christmas 2 years ago with a balance board and Wii fit, along with a slew of great games like Wii Resort, Guitar Hero and more.   I told the kids they must have been extra good, to which my then 9 year old son remarked, "Or Santa saw that you guys were getting extra fat..."

No matter Santa's ulterior motive...we've been rockin' out on the Wii games ever since, and having loads of family fun together.   Guitar Hero is a favorite of ours, since we're HUGE music fans.   We have the Wii drums, 3 guitars and a mic and can all play together...literally.

*Moshi Monsters Moshling Zoo by Activision for DS ($36)
Moshi Monsters on DS and on line top our most played list this year.   At 9 & 11 my kids still both adore, collect & play Moshi Monsters.   We completely geeked out on seeing the new Moshi Monster releases and meeting members of the creative design team at ChiTAG 2012.   Highly recommended.

This year, the new release Moshi Monsters Theme Park tops the kids' wish list.   We're dying to review it but haven't gotten our hands on one yet.   Maybe Santa's elves are making one for us.

These are three of our all time favs here at ChiIL Mama and they make great gifts for the young gamers in your life.   One lucky reader will win 'em all.

Tech or Treat? Game of the Year, Plants Vs. Zombies by PopCap 50% off Today Only

Although this time of year...one never knows...

Our friend, Charlie, turned into a zombie and won the Punkin' Prom costume contest at Lincoln Hall with his excellent Plants Vs. Zombies costume!   Du-Jay made him a pea shooter.

I had the great pleasure of meeting up with the PopCaps peeps earlier this month, for lunch at gorgeous NoMI Restaurant downtown in the Park Hyatt.   Next to the theatre, music and arts scene, we LOVE living in the city for the excellent restaurants.    Our lunch at NoMI was fabulous!

It sounds so Asian and exotic, I never would have guessed NoMI really stands for Northern Michigan!   They've redesigned their space and menu to be more contemporary and fun; less stuffy and formal.   The chef is the same, and we had a chance to meet him.   He reassured everyone that NoMi will retaining their seasonal choices and reputation for excellent dining.  Highly recommended.

It was a treat to meet Laura Jackson from PopCap Games.   She knows the original game inventors and was happy to report that they're still laid back, great guys, despite being multimillionaires after their sale of PopCap to EA Games.   We love to hear about those success stories--just 2 young guys in a garage, a great idea, and lot of creativity.   When Laura's not educating social media mavens about gaming, she travels throughout Africa and studies native drumming!

Here's our photo filled recap from our blogger/press lunch with PopCap Games.   It was fun to be seated next to Lucy Lu (No, not that one...Mom of two talented artist kids who won a PopCap's logo contest, drawing unicorns for Peggle.)   I asked her how it was sharing a famous name, as we also know a local Pam Anderson and several other movie moniker Mamas.   She was super sweet and funny and said she was just relieved that so far the famous Lucy Lu hasn't done anything too embarrassing to smear the name.   Could be worse!

The lunch was quite an informative, lively round table discussion among top bloggers, and included an official voice from The Academy of Pediatrics.   Of course we limit our kids' screen time to 2 hours max (as recommended), once homework and helpful works are done, so we don't end up with glassy eyed, cone headed zombies.   However, at 8 & 10 years of age, they both LOVE their screen time and can't wait to relax and play games.    We'll be exploring exciting advances in the video game industry, rating labels, 3D games/vision and more, throughout November.

My son's rockin' the PopCaps Games and we'll be including full reviews of Bejeweled 3 and Bookworm Deluxe! in our upcoming holiday features.   For now, we wanted to get in the spirit of Halloween/Dia De Los Muertos and introduce you to Plants Vs. Zombies, if you haven't discovered it already.
