Great Divide rocked House of Blues, Chicago 6-11-11

Their impressive act at the House of Blues, opening for Van Ghost and How Far to Austin, wowed us back in June, so we were stoked to hear they were going to play North Coast.   We caught up with Great Divide for a video interview earlier this week, right after practice.    

They're fast becoming Chicago favorites, as well as doing some respectable national touring like SXSW, and Equifunk Festival out East last week, that they just about didn't make it back from.   Hear all the crazy details right here, about the demise of Bessie the bus and the Uhaul that didn't.   They're movin' on up, from the local stage last year to a main stage spot this Sunday at 1:30 at North Coast Music Festival.    You can also check 'em out Friday on WGN.  

  

Mellow Yellow Monday--ChiILin' With Great Divide, How Far to Austin, Van Ghost at The House of Blues, Chicago

A lot of people think shoe shots are misfires, accidental snaps when the camera should have been off.    But I love to shoot shoes on purpose.   It fascinates me, especially during concerts, to see what the musicians choose to put on their feet.    Do they go for fashion over comfort or vice versa.   A surprising number play bare foot.   Do they start in cool but painful looking heels and kick them off part way through?    (I was bonked by a flying heel in the photo pit at HOB Saturday.)    What connects people's bodies to the ground?   What grounds people?   See if you can figure out whose shoes are whose...
