HELP OUT: Make a Wish & Gamestop Partner Up And Donations Through May 31st Help Gravely Ill Kids' Wishes Come True

GameStop Set to Help Grant Even More Wishes with Second Annual
Make-A-Wish® Donation Program

GameStop is asking customers to donate to Make-A-Wish and
help reach their $500,000 goal

GameStop helps make kids' wishes come true.

WORLDS COLLIDE ALERT: We love it when our favorites play nice together! ChiIL Mama has worked with both Make-A-Wish and with GameStop in the past on separate features and campaigns, and we're thrilled to announce they are partnering up on a fabulous fundraiser. Gamestop has a long-standing relationship with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and you can help out. Their second-annual donation program runs through May 31st. As a result of the donation program, GameStop helps grant shopping wishes, with 335 shopping sprees granted just last year.

This year, GameStop had the opportunity to help grant a super-cool, over-the-top wish for a kid named Jahred Joyner who wished specifically to star in his own commercial for a video game company. Jahred is battling AGS leukodystrophy, an extremely rare genetic condition that affects the central nervous system, specifically impacting the amount of white matter in the brain. Jahred’s wish is now real, and you can see the awesome result below. To watch Jahred’s full interview, you can view it here.

From now through May 31, customers who shop at GameStop and GameStop.com will be able to donate $1, $5, $10 or more to the Make-A-Wish Foundation per purchase. Last year, GameStop raised $300,000 in the first annual donation program with Make-A-Wish and this year hopes to raise $500,000.

GameStop, a family of specialty retail brands that makes the most popular technologies affordable and simple, today announced expanded support for Make-A-Wish® by offering customers the opportunity to donate with any in-store and online purchase.

From May 1, through May 31, 2015, customers who shop at GameStop and www.GameStop.com will have the opportunity to donate $1, $5, $10, or more to Make-A-Wish per purchase. For every Make-A-Wish donation, GameStop will offer a bounce back coupon good for 10% off their next purchase of pre-owned games, and PowerUp Rewards members will receive triple PowerUp Rewards points on their donations. Additionally, this year, customers can also support the cause via in-store donations at Spring Mobile and Simply Mac, members of GameStop’s family of technology brands, and Kongregate customers will be able to donate via online transactions. Last year, GameStop raised $300,000, and this year, GameStop has a goal of raising $500,000 for Make-A-Wish.

“GameStop has a deep history with Make-A-Wish, and we are thrilled to have another opportunity to support such a meaningful organization,” said Rob Lloyd, chief financial officer of GameStop, and Make-A-Wish North Texas board member. “We know the power of granting a wish to children in need and are honored to give our customers the chance to feel the joy in helping to make wish kids’ wishes come true.”

GameStop participates in nearly one shopping spree wish per day somewhere in the U.S. In 2014, GameStop helped grant 335 shopping spree wishes at local GameStop stores.  Sometimes, a wish kid gets really creative. This year, GameStop had the opportunity to help grant a super-cool, over-the-top wish for a kid named Jahred Joyner who wished specifically to star in his own commercial for a video game company. You can watch Jahred’s commercial here. To watch Jahred’s full interview, you can view it here.

“Time and again, the wish experience has the potential to forever change not only the wish kid’s life, but also the lives of his or her family, friends and community,” said David Williams, president and CEO of Make-A-Wish America. "When companies like GameStop and their customers dedicate their time and resources to help our organization, the impact is immeasurable to a wish kid; we are sincerely grateful for their charity and thoughtfulness.”

About Make-A-Wish
Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. According to a 2011 U.S. study of wish impact, most health professionals surveyed believe a wish-come-true has positive impacts on the health of children. Kids say wishes give them renewed strength to fight their illness, and their parents say these experiences help strengthen the entire family. Headquartered in Phoenix, Make-A-Wish is one of the world's leading children's charities, serving children in every community in the United States and its territories. With the help of generous donors and more than 27,000 volunteers, Make-A-Wish grants a wish somewhere in the country every 37 minutes. ChiIL Mama will be down at Macy's State Street (111 N. If you can't experience it vicariously in real time, in the morning, we'll have a big photo filled recap up shortly after.

Though she wears a uniform to school every day, Chelsea (17) has an eye for fashion. She can indulge her love for style at Fashion Week as top designers showcase their new collections. In the meantime, she is excited to learn more about the Chicago Fashion Incubator at Macy’s on State Street, where she’ll get a special tour in an anticipation of her wish.

My own kids volunteered to make a child's super hero wish come true through Make-A-Wish Foundation and the CircEsteem Team, a few years ago, and it was an amazing experience. We highly recommend donating so they can continue their incredible work making wishes come true for kids with life threatening illnesses. Tis the season.

Yes, it is better to give than to receive and here at ChiIL Mama we're huge advocates of volunteering, and donating time and/or money to worthy causes & the arts. Still, receiving kinda rocks too, so we're partnering with Macy's and giving something away to our readers! Of course this awesome Macy's Believe Gift Bag can be given as well.

Now in its seventh season, Macy's will reprise its annual "Believe" campaign to benefit Make-A-Wish®. Through December 24, children of all ages can drop their stamped letters, addressed to Santa at The North Pole, in special Santa Mail letterboxes at any Macy’s store. For each letter received, Macy's will donate $1, up to $1 million, to Make-A-Wish, helping to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.

**New this year and as part of the letter collection, customers can also visit macys.com/believe to create and send their letter to Santa.**

Macy's is also asking America to help set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® title for the longest wish list to Santa through their digital letters. The previous record was set in 2012 with 75,954 wishes.

In addition to the letter collection drive, believers can join in the spirit of the holidays through other "Believe" campaign elements, including a school musical program, a nationally televised animated special, activity guides for teachers and the return of the sixth annual National Believe Day.

"Believe" has become Macy's signature holiday program, garnering support and participation from customers nationwide, resulting in more than $8.7 million in donations to Make-A-Wish since the program began in 2006.
