CLUE To Play Chicago's CIBC Theatre February 18 Through March 2, 2025

ChiIL Live Shows On Our Radar

NOW PLAYING

CLUE

A HILARIOUS NEW STAGE PLAY

“Reminds you what a breezy night of pure entertainment feels like.”

-TheaterMania

“Extraordinarily entertaining.”

-Broadway World

Here at ChiIL Mama and ChiIL Live Shows we adore the board game CLUE and the film version, too. We're excited to catch opening night of the stage version at CIBC Theatre on February 19th. Check back soon for our full review.

Broadway In Chicago is delighted to announce that CLUE, the hilarious murder mystery comedy inspired by the Hasbro board game and adapted from the fan-favorite film, is now playing at the CIBC Theatre for a limited two—week engagement through March 2 only. Described by The New York Times calls CLUE “A very funny whodunit that strikes contemporary parallels on the way to its grand reveal,” CLUE delivers a thrilling mix of comedy, mystery, and suspense at every performance.

Individual tickets, ranging from $35 to $130, along with a select number of premium tickets, can be purchased by visiting www.BroadwayInChicago.com or going to any Broadway In Chicago venue box office. Groups of 10 or more can purchase tickets by calling (312) 977-1710 or emailing GroupSales@BroadwayInChicago.com. Patrons can also participate in a digital lottery for a chance to purchase $25 tickets for each performance. In addition to the lottery, a limited number of day-of-show in-person rush tickets will be available for all performances. Click here for more information on the digital lottery and in-person rush. The performance schedule is below.

The stellar cast of CLUE features Jennifer Allen as Mrs. Peacock (March 1-2), Christina Anthony as Miss Scarlet, Mariah Burks as the Cook, David Hess as Colonel Mustard, Joanna Glushak as Mrs. Peacock (February 18-28), Donna English as Mrs. White, John Shartzer as Mr. Green, Jonathan Spivey as Professor Plum (February 18-28), Jeff Skowron as Wadsworth, Graham Stevens as Professor Plum (March 1-2), Alex Syiek as Mr. Boddy, Teddy Trice as the Cop, and Elisabeth Yancey  as Yvette. The understudies are Greg Balla, Mary McNulty, Cassandra Marie Murphy and James Taylor Odom. The cast is subject to change.

Led by Broadway Director Casey Hushion (Associate Director of Mean Girls and The Prom, Associate Resident Director of Aladdin, choreography for the Netflix series “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”), murder and blackmail are on the menu when six mysterious guests assemble at Boddy Manor for a night they’ll never forget! Was it Mrs. Peacock in the study with the knife? Or was it Colonel Mustard in the library with the wrench? Based on the iconic 1985 Paramount Pictures movie and inspired by the classic Hasbro board game, CLUE is the ultimate whodunit that will leave you dying of laughter and keep you guessing until the final twist.

CLUE is based on the screenplay by Jonathan Lynn. Written by Sandy Rustin with additional material by Hunter Foster and Eric Price. It features original music by Michael Holland.

The production also features scenic design by Lee Savage, costume design by Jen Caprio, lighting design by Ryan O'Gara and sound design by Jeff Human.

The CLUE franchise began in 1949 with the manufacture of the ‘Cluedo’ board game. Currently owned and published by Hasbro, the game has sold more than 200 million copies worldwide.  A murder-mystery comedy film by Paramount Pictures based on the board game was released in 1985 and went on to achieve cult classic status with a passionate fan base.

The North American tour of CLUE is produced by The Araca Group, Work Light Productions, Lively McCabe Entertainment and Aged in Wood.

Originally produced at Bucks County Playhouse, New Hope, Pennsylvania, Alexander Fraser, Robyn Goodman, Josh Fiedler, Producers. Developed by Cleveland Playhouse, Laura Kepley, Artistic Director & Kevin Moore, Managing Director.

REVIEW: A MAGICAL CIRQUE CHRISTMAS Now Playing Chicago's CIBC Theatre Through December 11, 2022

ChiIL Mama’s ChiIL Picks List

A MAGICAL CIRQUE CHRISTMAS

Now Playing Through December 11, 2022

at Broadway In Chicago’s CIBC Theatre

JAW-DROPPING MAGIC, BIG LAUGHS,

HOLIDAY MUSIC, AND STUNNING ACROBATIC PERFORMANCES

IN A CHRISTMAS TIME ADVENTURE

REVIEW:

By Bonnie Kenaz-Mara

Get in gear and take the family to this time traveling holiday spectacle. Large screen imagery of time spiraling, and gears provide a fun backdrop for a nonlinear romp through history, jumping back and forth through decades of Christmas far and near past. Will the giant, magical clock be fixed or will Christmas 2022 be lost in space?

Here at ChiIL Mama we adore circus arts and magic. We've had the chance to see both A Magical Cirque Christmas and Lucy Darling's solo shows many times were excited to see the two together. Don't sleep on this one, though. A MAGICAL CIRQUE CHRISTMAS is only in Chicago for a 1 week run. Make some family memories with this fun, all ages show.

Holiday spirits run high with superhuman feats of circus arts and Darling illusions. Lucy Darling is a hoot, with her 1950's style glam and boozy illusions, making this show as fun for the adults as the littles. When Lucy's hosting, the whisky bottles never run out and under her magic touch, one shaker can simultaneously pour out 4 completely different cocktails.

Lucy Darling

In addition to illusions and table magic, A MAGICAL CIRQUE CHRISTMAS has high flying fun for the whole family, with aerial arts, and entertaining time travel to many decades of Christmas past.

Rock through time from the 50's to the present, with mind bending circus arts and magic, for multigenerational fun. This is one holiday feast for the senses that will appeal to the grandparents on down to the smallest tots.

Experiential gift are an excellent, clutter busting choice for those who have everything. This holiday, gift some family together time and lasting memories with cirque style acts and magical illusions, in this fast paced, time traveling tale. Recommended.

The Christmas tale begins as the Guardian of Time, who manages the changing of the seasons with his giant magical clock, finds himself less than thrilled to face the countdown to the 2022 holidays. In other words, he’s not feeling it. An optimistic, magical Christmas fairy played by the glamourous and comedic magician Lucy Darling whom David Copperfield calls “a true original – hilarious and delightful; An EXCEPTIONAL new talent in magic” appears to help but despite her best intentions, causes time to go haywire when she breaks the clock.

-- David Copperfield

The story jumps along the time spectrum with visits to the rollicking 1920s a la The Great Gatsby style, the rockabilly 1950s, the boogie-oogie 1970s, and a classic Victorian 1890s London reminiscent of Charles Dickens, and is accompanied by beautiful holiday music from each period. To keep the clock ticking, Lucy Darling uses all her skills with jaw-dropping tricks and amazing feats of illusion, including a levitation that requires a bit of audience participation.

Johnathan Rinny

Acts returning for this season’s tour include audience favorites, Rola Bola performer and Unicyclist Jonathan Rinney, Juggler Christopher Stoinev and Foot Juggling Duo Ray Rodriguez Lara and Henry D’Boyd Collado Green. Attendees of all ages will be amazed and delighted by performances that have also entertained TV audiences on America’s Got Talent and The Late Show. Dazzling artists include Lyra hoop aerial acrobats, a high-flying foot juggling duo, a breathtaking aerial straps pair, a contortion flying streetlamp act, an internationally acclaimed high balancing rola bola artist, and much more.

“A Magical Cirque Christmas is a great opportunity to bring friends and family together to reconnect, share laughs, and create new memories during the holiday season. We’ve assembled top-tier talent for an incredible evening of surprises that we think will bring a ton of joy during a cherished time of year,” said Director Louanne Madorma, who has directed cirque shows all around the world.”

REVIEW: ANASTASIA at Broadway In Chicago’s CIBC Theatre Through September 25, 2022

ChiIL Mama’s ChiIL Picks List

ANASTASIA

Anastasia is recommended for ages 7 and older

Run Time is approx. 2 hours and 25 minutes with an intermission.

“Captivating, beautifully staged and emotionally vital. ANASTASIA hits the sweet spot!”

THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER

REVIEW:

By Bonnie Kenaz-Mara

History, mystery, royals, revolution, and romance...

Something old... something new. As a critic for the past 14 years and a lifelong theatre lover, I can attest that it's exciting to see a new musical. As a mother and a history buff, it's even more fun to see all the young kids in the audience making memories, watching a fierce survivor of a princess as a role model, and engaging with a live production at the CIBC Theatre, a lavish, historical venue. Early exposure to theatre increases empathy in children and who knows what those experiences might spark for the future. Anastasia is only in Chicago for a few short days, so don't miss this!

Anastasia has been a long time coming. Here at ChiIL Mama, we first wrote about the Broadway touring production in May of 2018, when it was slated to open in Chicago in March of 2019. Three years later we can attest that some shows are worth the wait, and in Anastasia's own words. "It's never too late. I'm here now."

We loved the lavish costumes, poignant score, and clever use of projections to transport the audience across the ocean and back in time to the fall of the Russian Empire and onward to 1920's Paris.

Veronica Stern was a joy to see as Anya, well complimented by Willem Butler as Dmitry. We also enjoyed the performances of Ben Edquist as Gleb and Gerri Weagraff as Dowager Empress. There was a well deserved standing ovation on opening night. Kudos to the entire cast and crew for bringing soaring vocals, delightful dance numbers, and stellar storytelling to life on stage. The touring production may be a scaled down version of the Broadway hit, in production values, but it's well worth a look.

From the devastating violence of war to the exiled expats reliving their glory days, the musical, Anastasia gives audiences a timeless and timely tale for the ages. Whether sweeping the streets in rags or attending the ballet and bravely facing the Dowager Empress, Anya excels. Was she the last of the Romanovs or a royally talented rogue, scamming her way out of Russia and into royalty? Where did she disappear to? Was the iconic music box a con or a concrete clue to authenticity? Did Anya and Dimitry both choose love over money, forgoing both the reward and a lineage with luxury? The Anastasia story raises more questions than it answers, in this delightfully complex mystery. Regardless of the realism, we were completely captivated by this riches to rags tale.

Fast forward to 2022. One hundred years later, Russia is once again at war in the region. Refugees and the impoverished still struggle to find food, water, and basic needs. Love blooms amid the wreckage of revolutions. And tenacious, smart survivors are always in fashion. Don't miss this. Recommended. 3 out of 4 stars ★★★

Anastasia played to sold out audiences on Broadway for more than 3 years before expanding it’s global “Fanastasia” community with productions on tour across North America and in Japan, Spain, Germany and the Netherlands. Globally, the show has been performed more than 2,500 times and sold 3.4 million tickets. Additionally, the show has garnered more than 15 major international awards, including Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards and Best New Musical in Spain, Germany and the Netherlands.

Broadway In Chicago is thrilled to announce that ANASTASIA is now playing at Broadway In Chicago’s CIBC Theatre (18 W. Monroe St.) through September 25, 2022. Ticket prices range from $27.00 to $118.00 with a select number of premium tickets available. Individual tickets are available at www.BroadwayInChicago.com. Tickets are also available for groups of 10 or more by calling Broadway In Chicago Group Sales at (312) 977-1710 or emailing GroupSales@BroadwayInChicago.com.

From the Tony Award-winning creators of the Broadway classic Ragtime and inspired by the beloved films, ANASTASIA is the new Broadway musical that’s “one of the most gorgeous shows in years!” (New York Observer). This dazzling show transports us from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920s, as a brave young woman sets out to discover the mystery of her past. Pursued by a ruthless Soviet officer determined to silence her, Anya enlists the aid of a dashing conman and a lovable ex-aristocrat. Together, they embark on an epic adventure to help her find home, love, and family.

“★★★★

A sweeping adventure, romance and historical epic that piles discovery upon discovery.

Its fine craftsmanship will satisfy musical theater fans.”

OPENING: The Aragon Company of SIX at Broadway In Chicago’s CIBC Theatre March 29 through July 3rd, 2022

ChiIL Live Shows On Our Radar

The Aragon Company of SIX

Launches in Chicago, March 29th

By Toby Marlow & Lucy Moss

Directed by Lucy Moss & Jamie Armitage

Choreography by Carrie-Anne Ingrouille

In May of 2019 it was my great pleasure to catch opening night of the North American Premiere of SIX at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre just before they went on to huge success on Broadway despite the pandemic. I loved this high energy, femalecentric reclaiming of "herstory" then, and can't wait to see the North American tour of SIX, launching right here in sweet home Chicago, once again. It's one of the first musicals I recommend to folks looking for family friendly theatre fun that's likely to be a major hit with tweens, teens, and young adults. Don't miss this! I'll be out for the press opening April 12th, so check back shortly after for my full review.

Producers Kenny Wax, Wendy & Andy Barnes, George Stiles, and Kevin McCollum are proud to launch the Aragon Company of SIX, the new musical by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, in Chicago. The Aragon Company, a North American tour of SIX, will play at Broadway In Chicago’s CIBC Theatre, 18 W. Monroe Street, March 29 through July 3. Tickets for the first tour stop are on sale now at www.BroadwayInChicago.com.

From Tudor Queens to Pop Princesses, the SIX wives of Henry VIII take the mic to remix five hundred years of historical heartbreak into an exuberant celebration of 21st century girl power! This new original musical is the global sensation that everyone is losing their head over.  The New York Times says SIX “Totally rules!” (Critic’s Pick) and The Washington Post hails SIX as “Exactly the kind of energizing, inspirational illumination this town aches for!
