Here at ChiIL Mama, we've enjoyed the World Pet Association’s Aquatic Experience for years. We've checked out shark shows, sea lions, gators and touch tanks, and shot a zillion photos. My daughter even designed a fish tank in the Kids Aquarium Contest and won first place in her age group in 2014 & 15! She also threw a pingpong ball and won a betta two years in a row. The only traveling sea lion experience in the United States, Sea Lion Splash, will return to the Chicago area for the World Pet Association’s fifth annual Aquatic Experience – Chicago, Nov. 3-5, 2017, at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center. Show attendees will be able to interact with sea lions up close, as well as enjoying additional must-sea programs including: piranha tanks, 



Fish from Around the World displays, a Kids Aquarium Contest and “everything aquatic under one roof”— from freshwater and saltwater fish, plants and mammals.

Aquatic Experience includes family-friendly activities such as the only traveling sea lion experience in the United States, Sea Lion Splash and a Kid’s Aquarium Contest. Other exciting programming includes: Touch tank with a Giant African “Pixie” Bullfrog, a Green Anaconda, Fish from Around the World displays with tropical fish and a touch tank with Jellyfish.



In 2015, my 12 year old daughter, Sage designed a Chicago Blackhawks vs. San Jose Sharks hockey themed tank! In 2014 she created a Tetris Tetras Tank. She won first place both years and got featured on the news. Every kid who enters gets to keep the tank and accessories!

We had a great time last year. My daughter, Sage (10) won a Beta in a ball toss game and we found lots of great deals for our 30 gallon tropical aquarium. The World Pet Association’s (WPA) second annual Aquatic Experience – Chicago makes a splash Nov. 7-9, 2014, with the addition of over 130 aquariums of tropical fish and return of the popular Live Shark Encounter and Kids Aquarium Contest. Show attendees will find “everything aquatic under one roof” at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center, from saltwater and freshwater fish to pond and aquatic plants—including a Fish from Around the World display with Children’s Touch Tank, two inaugural aquatic competitions, educational seminars and a thriving show floor of exhibitors showcasing the latest in aquatic trends and products.



Daily family passes ($25), individual tickets ($10), weekend passes ($99) and Saturday dinner and keynote tickets ($60) are now on sale for Aquatic Experience – Chicago.

The new display of over 130 aquariums of tropical fish, presented by the Florida Tropical Fish Farmers Association, will include a wide variety of tropical fresh and salt water fish farmed in the US and provide inspiration for retailers, advanced hobbyists and fledgling aquarists all three days of the show. Haai Inc’s Live Shark Encounter, the only travelling shark show in the country, returns this year to give attendees the chance to see sharks up close as a diver swims and interacts with these awe-inspiring animals, providing entertaining and educational information.



Aquatic Experience’s educational seminars on hobbyist and retail topics will feature keynote speaker and Newport Aquarium Zoological Operations Manager Jeff Gibula, in partnership with Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium, taking a behind-the-scenes lighthearted look at public aquariums and their relationship to today’s hobbyists and their home aquariums. This year’s show also hosts two inaugural aquatic competitions: the Aquascaping Live! Contest presented by the Aquatic Gardeners Association, and the Aquatic Experience Fancy Guppy Competition presented by the International Fancy Guppy Association.

Additional aquatic experts presenting at educational seminars this year are Anton Lamboj, Bob Fenner, Brandon McLane, Charles Delbeek, Chris Lukhaup, Eric Bodrock, Francis Yupangco, Heiko Bleher, Jake Adams, Jen Reynolds, Joe Olenik, Jonathan Dooley, Julian Sprung, Karen Randall, Kevin Kohen, Oliver Knott, Oliver Lucanus, Patrick Dontson, Rusty Wessel, Sandy Moore, Sanjay Joshi, Steve Lundblad and Ted Judy. Kid’s Aquarium Contest is a captivating learning program designed to teach children about the environment, stimulate their minds, ignite their creativity and warm their hearts through the rewards of pet care. Children from the ages 5 to 16 are encouraged to join the competition.

The World Pet Association (WPA) announced that the only traveling shark show in the country, Haai Inc’s Live Shark Encounter, will be among the unique exhibits on view at its inaugural Aquatic Experience – Chicago show, Nov. 15-17, 2013. Attendees will get to see sharks up close as a diver provides entertaining and educational information before entering a specially designed 5,000-gallon tank to swim and interact with these awe-inspiring animals. Additionally, a Great White Shark Museum on site will provide more details and artifacts on display, including a replica of the Carcharodon Megalodon Jaws (an ancient meat-eating 60-foot shark).

Aquatic Experience – Chicago is the first show in industry history to combine everything aquatic under one roof—from saltwater and freshwater fish and pond.
