Gymnastics: Chicago Gets New IK Gymnastics Facility in Roscoe Village

In other exciting gymnastics news...

Chicago Youngsters Will Flip Over Promising New Gym

This fall, Chicago kids will have a brand new, state-of-the-art gymnastics facility where they can tumble, swing, and chase their Olympic dreams.  In Roscoe Village, on the borders of Lakeview and Lincoln Square, IK Gymnastics is a 16,000+ sq. ft. elite gym that will offer exceptional gymnastics and gymnastic-related athletic development opportunities to Chicago families.

IK Gymnastics is the brainchild of Irina Kudina (IK), owner and operator of the new facility. Ms. Kudina, a former member of the Soviet Union Junior Olympic Team in artistic gymnastics and the Sovet Union’s World Champion and three-time All-Around Champion in sports acrobatics, provides the highest level of gymnastics instruction for children and adults in a safe, clean and fun setting. IKG offers varied programming to satisfy diverse ages, skill and commitment levels, from recreational to Olympic hopefuls.

“We believe we can help children embrace the quality that makes each one unique. Gymnastics is a fascinating journey. One of my mottos is ‘stay with your dream,’” Ms. Kudina says.  “I have definitely stayed with mine.”

Classes at IKG started this week, with unique class offerings such as a “Tumbling Tots” Series for toddlers to recreational and specialty gymnastics for both boys and girls. For full information on class offerings and schedules, please visit: http://www.ikgym.com/.

IK Gymnastics is a state-of-the-art training facility with over 13,000 sq. ft of space devoted to gymnastics equipment including a foam pit, in-ground trampoline, channel bar system and more. IKG’s mission is to provide the highest level of gymnastics instruction in a safe, clean and fun setting. Influenced by Irina Kudina’s vast international experience, IKG will offer completely unique gymnastics-based classes, such as parkour-gymnastics, gymnastics games and acro-dance, alongside traditional gymnastics and tumbling.  Already home to a girls’ Junior Olympic team (levels 4 – 10), IKG will also host a recreational team, birthday parties and day camps.

Irina Kudina is the founder and owner of IK Gymnastics. Ms Kudina is a former member of the Soviet Union Junior Olympic Team in artistic gymnastics and the Soviet Union’s World Champion and three-time All-Around Champion in sports acrobatics. Before coming to the United States in 1999, Ms. Kudina coached All-Around World Champions in the Ukraine and was recognized for her coaching skills by the Olympics Committee there. For the past 10 years, Ms. Kudina has been the head coach of a girls’ competitive gymnastics team in Chicago where her students have excelled at the state, regional and national levels.

ChiIL Mama will be taking a tour and checking out some classes, and we'll have a photo filled recap for our readers soon.   We adore our current coach, but we're very excited about IK Gymnastics, as Chicago has long trailed behind the suburbs in facilities.    There is also currently a lack of competitive gymnastics options for boy in the city.   IK Gym is stepping in to meet this need.   This center is a huge boon to Chicago's competitive gymnastics community and to those who just want to have a fun, active play space or creative birthday party plan.
