Raging Waves is still buckets of fun for the littles, while they wait to grow to the magic 48" that opens up as many slides as they're brave enough to ride.

Here are my own two, back in 2011, rockin' the kids area.

It's been a blast being a Raging Waves Blog Ambassadors for 2015! Thanks so much for all the endless summer memories. We'll see ya Labor Day weekend for one last splash. Then we'll see you next year!

We'll see you out there! Throughout the year, remember to check back with ChiIL Mama like we vote in Chi, IL... early and often. We have the scoop on what's hot, great nationwide giveaways, and loads of original content including photo & video filled features on Chi, IL and beyond.

It's been an exciting ride, being 1 of 5 Raging Waves Waterpark Ambassadors this summer. The kids are thrilled to be able to invite their friends and enjoy endless days of sun and fun. ChiIL Mama's Co-Hosting a Twitter Party 8/4 at 8PM CT. Be sure to RSVP and join us with the hashtag #EndlessSummer, for great prizes and info. All the details are below.

Our July visit was especially great because we got to bring our friend, Meenakshe, who had NEVER been to a waterpark, and who happily rode EVERY high, scary slide in the place. She's been living abroad since 4th grade with her IB theatre arts & music teacher parents. This 16 year old world traveler has lived in Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong and now Beijing China, but we got to introduce her to her first waterpark experience!

My son brought his BFF, Mateo, back again, since our last adventure was cold and rainy. This time the good news was our day was hot and sunny. Bad news was that meant muuuuuuuch longer slide lines and crowds. Still, we had a wet and wonderful day.

Check out our full slideshow here:
(Our fav photos from the day are embedded below.)

ChiIL Mama's ChiIL Tips List:
  • SHORTER SLIDE LINES: We went from 1pm to close and lines dropped steadily from about 4 to 7pm closing time, as the 10am crowd that opened the park got tired and headed out. Of course weekdays tend to be less crowded than weekends and if you chance it on a cooler or rainy day, as long as there's not lightning you'll have the shortest slide lines of all! (Extra Bonus: If the park closes early due to relentless rain, tornados, or thunder storms you'll get tickets to come back another day!)
  • LUCK OF THE LOUNGER: If you don't mind a bit of sand, plenty of lounge chairs were available on the little sand bar across the bridge from the biggest water slides, when everything near the wave pool was full.
  • HELP OUT: It pays to donate!

Donate a new or gently-used backpack at Raging Waves, and receive $5 off a full-priced over 48" general admission ticket (regularly priced at $29.99).

Backpacks will be donated to Project Just Start. In the 10 communities that Project Just Start assists, there are over 23,000 people living below poverty.

Find out more about Project Just Start, donating a backpack, and your discount by clicking here.

  • Get a locker. Sure it's $10 or $15 depending on the size but that's a small price to pay for piece of mind, knowing your wallet, cell phone, and valuables aren't going missing while you're in the slide line. You can get up to 4 wristbands for no extra charge so your family can access the stash without tracking one key holder down.
  • CHECK COSTCO for a sweet package deal (and you don't have to buy in bulk!):

Raging Waves is Illinois’ Largest Waterpark, featuring 19 water slides, giant kiddie areas, quarter-mile lazy river, humungous wave pool, beach areas and more.

Big fun with Big Squirts!

Even when it's crowded, Raging Waves feels spacious.

Fun on dry land too!

This was the unanimous favorite, even if the kids always call it "the toilet bowl" instead of it's official title, The Boomerang.

ChiIL Mama's Adventures as a Raging Waves Waterpark Ambassador (June 2015) #EndlessSummer #Sponsored

Waterpark Fun
With an Australian Down Under Flair
Right Here in Illinois!
June 2014

ChiIL Mama was thrilled to be chosen as 1 of just 5 area Raging Waves Blog Ambassadors for 2015. So check back with us like we vote in Chi, IL... early and often. We'll be bringing you our photo and video filled waterpark adventures in June, July, and August.

In June we actually rocked Raging Waves twice, once with the family and once with just the big kids (AKA: grownups), where the 5 Ambassadors got the special grand tour from Manager Dan, and got to meet the PR & management team members, and one of the owners. I was jazzed to find out Raging Waves is family owned and run by a couple who had a dream and a vision. They've also had the grand plan to check out lots of other waterparks and incorporate what those parks are doing well into Raging Waves.

Here's ChiIL Mama's full set of shots from our Raging Waves tour on Opening Day 6/6/15 & our return with the family on 6/26/15. (We'll embed more of our favorite shots below as well.)

Raging waves features loads of water fun for all ages and abilities, Brock's Giant Sandbox, and even a CNH Industrial Outback Road Rally Track where adults and kids can race (under the Boomerange waterslide) on Agricultural Red or New Holland Agriculture Blue pedal tractors! There are also a sweet range of cabanas of various sizes for rent to groups!

Raging Waves cabana style!

Summer time and the livin' is easy with a Raging Waves Group Cabana!

The Raging Waves grounds are clean, spacious, and filled with possibilities for endless summer fun!

Rain or shine, Raging Waves makes for a g'day with your mates.

The day we went back with a bunch of bloggers and their families, it was chilly with intermittent showers, but my son and one of his best friends had a blast anyway.

If it's a bit overcast or cold, lines for the slides are short or nonexistent, making for lots of extra ride time for your warm blooded xtreme kids. Take a chance. If the park has to close for thunder storms or unrelenting rain, you'll get free tickets to come back again another day! If the forecasted high is 72+ without lightening, Raging Waves will be open.

If an Australian Outback vacation isn't in the cards this summer, your family can still have BIG Aussie fun "down under" Chicago, at Illinois' largest water park, Raging Waves! Yorkville is close to Aurora and just 45 minutes to an hours south west of Chicago. Crocs aren't just for feet at this down under themed park.

A realistic looking pair may make you look twice, and Jim Nesci's real reptiles come in for shows along with magicians, musicians, tumblers and more!

The crocs aren't the only nod to the land down under. My tween and teen kids can't get enough of the Aussie named waterslides, and Great Barrier Reef Wave Pool.

I dig the slides too, but I had a relaxing time tubing around Kookaburra Kreek which is great for all ages. The down under theme continues with Kangaroo Falls and Koala Kove where littles can have big water fun and still play it safe till they hit the magic 48" needed to ride the big slides.

We highly recommend Raging Waves as a clean, family friendly, aquatic adventure all ages will enjoy! Come on out and play.
