Freaks and Geeks Abound at Wizard World's Comic Con 2011

ChiILin' at Chicago's Comic Con yesterday was great fun.   We felt right at home among the pierced, tattooed and costumed masses.    Halloween's come early this year and there's one more chance to check it out today.

Of course, if you're an arch-conservative or super prude, this is not where you wanna be spending your Sunday morning.   Comic Con does feature Lego mini's and kid toys next to scantily clad anime wannabes.   But for the rest of us....
The kids had a pop culture overdose of art, music, film and fun you have to see to believe.

Both of my little collectors found fun toys to spend their "helpful works" money on.    Sagezilla and Du-Jay both got multiple "tinys"--blown glass miniature animals in a round magnifying case for $1 each.   Then Du went the Lego minis way, to expand his already impressive collection with more Atlantis pieces.    Sagezilla bought 4 skellanimals collectables for half price.

Up to TWO kids 10 and under are free with every paying adult!!

If you bring your littles out today (Sunday), there's a costume contest just for them.   2-2:45   KID’S COSTUME CONTEST

Bring kids 10 and under for this special event with fun prizes just for families and the youngsters. (Room B)

We do recommend coming early.   We came at 11 yesterday and there was already a giant line of cars down the highway, waiting to exit, and a giant line of people waiting to get in.    But Comic Con's worth the wait.

Come see a celebration of graphic novels, comic books, movies, TV shows, gaming, technology, toys and social networking.   The events feature celebrities from movies and TV, artists and writers, and events such as premiers, gaming tournaments, panels, and costume contests.

We'll have a full recap up later this week, including the 40 year reunion of the original Wonka 5.   The kids are alright--alive and well adjusted--and were happy to take audience questions about their 14 year old selves and the chocolate factory magic that changed childhoods past and present.
