ChiIL Mama caught Econoline's packed show at Phyllis' Musical Inn last month.   They played with our friends in Prichard (whose guitar player is another Chicago dad who rocks.  Neil is dad to 3 kids from preschool through elementary.)   One of Sunday's guest vocalists is Bobby Conn (Chicago Dad to two young children) whose Schubas show we featured last weekend.
Girls Rock! Chicago is a 501(c)(3) non-for profit organization dedicated to fostering girls’ creative expression, positive self-esteem and community awareness through rock music. Through our music education programs for girls ages 8-16, we are committed to educating girls about the musical, technical, and creative aspects involved in musicianship, because we believe that young girls are rarely encouraged to explore self-expressive creative outlets and are less likely to be given access to musical and technical instruction or equipment. We believe that rock music can be a crucial tool in allowing young women to respond to preconceived notions of what they can do and what they can become.

Be part of an unprecedented artistic event as Belarus Free Theatre comes to Chicago!

January 27–February 20, 2011

On the heels of its sold-out engagement at New York's Under the Radar Festival, Belarus Free Theatre brings to Chicago its internationally celebrated production of Being Harold Pinter. Incorporating transcripts from Belarusian political prisoners with excerpts from works by Nobel Prize-winning playwright Harold Pinter, it blurs the boundaries between art and reality—delivering a poignant contemporary commentary on violence, oppression, freedom and human dignity.
Performed in Belarusian and Russian
with projected English translation
