Chicago Trolley’s Summer Tours a Hit for Locals and Visitors Alike

ChiIL Mama's Chi, IL Picks List:

Here at ChiIL Mama, we've partnered up with Chicago Trolley many times over the years (since 2011), to share photo filled features (click & scroll down) on their excellent tours. Travel in style this summer, with hop on/hop off passes, and avoid the hassle of city driving and exorbitant parking fees.

The trolley and double decker bus tours are often hosted by enthusiastic and informative actors who will make your tour a delight. One of my favorite thing about Chicago Trolley is their philosophy that "Teaching actors and comedians to drive a trolley provides a better experience than teaching a bus driver to give a tour."

Last time we had an opera singer guide and he belted out some fabulous tunes in the echoing underpasses on our way to the museum campus and back. It was truly a treat! We highly recommend these tours for visitors and Chicago locals alike. They're fabulous family friendly fun!

Disclosure: We have been compensated and/or given complimentary tours for review purposes. As always, all opinions are our own.

The Joker Rollercoaster at Six Flags Great America Is Flippin' Awesome!

ChiIL Mama, Sage & Allie's Adventures At The Joker Media Preview

We've long been fans of Six Flags Great America and it's always a treat to get to be some of the first riders whenever they open a new coaster or ride. This time I brought along a couple of my favorite coaster testers, my daughter, Sage and her friend, Allie. Because nobody screams like a couple of 14 year old girls!!

Check out ChiIL Mama's Full Slideshow Here:

The kids loved the new coaster and rode 4 times in a row. There are 4 different ways to ride it. The purple side is a bit less extreme and the green is the most intense. Riders can also face forward or backward on both sides.

Of course his evilness himself showed up for the press opening!

It was also fun to see some long time, top blogger friends, like Michelle from Honest and Truly and Cherise of Mom and More.

Ready to ride? The Joker can be found just inside of Yankee Harbor... next to Batman, of course.

The ribbon cutting was fun, from confetti canons and The Joker crashing the party, to the Gotham Public Works crew on clean up!

The Joker to Unleash Complete Chaos in 2017 Six Flags Great America’s 15th and First Ever Free-Fly Roller Coaster

Six Flags Great America, the Thrill Capital of the Midwest, and Warner Bros Consumer Products, on behalf of DC Entertainment, announce the opening of its 15th and most maniacal roller coaster to date, the all-new free-fly coaster, The Joker. This insanely twisted chaos coaster is a massive new centerpiece in the Yankee Harbor section of the park, next to Batman The Ride roller coaster.

“We are excited to continue our partnership with the DC brand as it continues to resonate well with our guests. The Joker is undeniably one of the greatest Super-Villains of all time,” said Hank Salemi, Six Flags Great America park president. “This free-fly coaster will perfectly capture the essence of the warped and unpredictable nature of The Joker. It will take our park to the next level of thrills.”

After being lifted straight up a 12-story, 90-degree hill, the free-fly coaster will wreak havoc as riders flip head-over-heels at least six times along the weightless journey. Thrill seekers will experience exhilarating leaps and dives along a horizontal plane with unexpected drops as they tumble from one level to the next. The wing seats amp up the pandemonium since riders will experience this wild adventure with no track above or below ─ just the sky, ground and plenty of sinister thrills.

The unique design of The Joker features:
 Massive, imposing, floating and twisting I-box track frame in a unique two-tone design;
 One-of-a-kind onboard magnetic technology featuring smooth head-over-heels free-fly
flips providing guests the feeling of weightlessness as they soar outside the confines of a
traditional track;
 4-D wing vehicles that seat up to 8 per vehicle with a total of 5 vehicles;
 Face-off seats that allow riders to face each other as they tumble head over heels;
 A 120-foot-tall, 90-degree hill that is ascended by an elevator-style, chain link lift; and
 Two beyond 90-degree “raven” drops giving the sensation of free-falling.

The Joker is expected to unleash total mayhem beginning in the spring of 2017, and join the ranks of all a long line of legendary roller coasters at Six Flags Great America.
