I LOVE this idea and want to bring it to Chi, town! My personal adult slumber party favs are:
Cannibal Women in the Avacado Jungle of Death (from 1989 with a young Bill Mahr and a surprisingly feminist, witty script!)
(celebrating it's 25th anniversary this year)
Feeling nostalgic for the sleepovers of your youth?
Wish you could spend some quality time with your girlfriends and a great movie?
We've got the party for you!
This Wednesday at Videology in Brooklyn, BUST Magazine is proud to present the first installment of PAJAMARAMA!, an ongoing series of classic slumber party films selected by super cool women of note. It's the grown-up slumber party you've been dreaming of: drinks, dancing, and a fierce flick from a bygone era. And there's no need to worry about your bra ending up in the freezer!
BUST editors Emily Rems and Molly Simms will get the party started with HAIRSPRAY (1988), the John Waters hit that follows "pleasantly plump" teen Tracy Turnblad (played by Ricki Lake) as she dances up a storm of subversion in 1960s Baltimore. Forget the squeaky-clean Broadway version; the original Hairspray is 92 minutes of nonstop, badass fun, with an all-star cast that includes Divine, Debbie Harry, Sonny Bono, Ruth Brown, Mink Stole, Ric Ocasek and Pia Zadora!
SHARE SECRETS! Find out how Hairspray forever warped the minds of BUST's brilliant editors.
HAIR HOPPERS DRINK FREE! Show up with a six-inch beehive and your first drink’s on us.
MADISON TIME! Learn how to do the movie’s most memorable dance and shake alongside the screen.
SNAG SWAG! Free issues of BUST are available at every PAJAMARAMA! event!
