Highly Recommended Haunts: DISTURBIA: SCREAMS IN THE PARK at Rosemont

Halloween Haunts On Our Radar:

“DISTURBIA: SCREAMS IN THE PARK” RETURNS TO TORMENT MB FINANCIAL PARK VISITORS THIS OCTOBER

Back in the day, I spent 3 years working a haunted house during the Halloween season as Carrie and a bloody bride, and it was great fun. I'll admit to making grownups pee themselves in terror, cry, and one women even ran screaming through the emergency exit. I'm retired from the gig now, but I'll always have a soft spot for those days, and I'm happy to send my readers to excellent haunts that may just have the same effect.

MB Financial Park’s acclaimed interactive horror experience “Disturbia: Screams in the Park” will return to the basement level of the MB Financial Park parking garage (5501 Park Place) Friday, Sept. 30. The sinister attraction, featuring 20,000 square feet of terror with more than 35 rooms, will remain open through Monday, Nov. 5. Tickets are now available.

Guests of “Disturbia: Screams in the Park” determine their own fate based on the choices they make while traversing the inescapable halls of the haunt. New experiences for 2016 include a multi-level underground sewer where dark and ominous waters await; and a petrifying swamp filled with unnerving creatures waiting to torment unsuspecting trespassers. The haunt’s newly remodeled exit is sure to haunt the dreams of its victims – as long as they are able to escape unscathed.

“Disturbia: Screams in the Park” is a product of Joseph and Mike Pantano. The attraction’s highly interactive nature and high quality settings help distinguish it from other haunts in the Chicago area. In its debut year, “Disturbia: Screams in the Park” was ranked third by the Chicago Tribune and Haunted Illinois in their lists of top Chicago-area haunted houses.

Tickets and More Information
“Disturbia: Screams in the Park” is an indoor environment that operates rain or shine. General admission tickets are $25 per person Sundays through Thursdays and $30 per person Fridays and Saturdays. VIP tickets, which allow ticketholders quicker access and less wait time for the haunt, are also available for $40 per person. Discounted tickets are available for groups of 10 or more at www.grouptix.net. Visitors are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance at www.disturbiascreams.com. Tickets can also be purchased on-site.

A minimum age of 13 is recommended for the haunt and parental discretion is advised. The haunt is open from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Tuesdays through Thursdays and Sundays and from 7 p.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

Below are the days of operation:
September 30 - October 2
October 7 - 9
October 14 - 16
October 20- 23
October 26 - 31
November 4 - 5 (pitch black experience; all lights in the haunt will be turned off)

Parking is free with validation from the haunted house ticket booth. After parking in the MB Financial Park parking garage, guests can follow signage directing them to the main elevators located in the middle of the parking garage and take the elevators to “LL” to descend into the underground world of “Disturbia: Screams in the Park.”

Following last year’s critically acclaimed and hugely successful inaugural tour, Rudolph and a holly jolly cast of iconic characters including Hermey the Elf, Yukon Cornelius and the Abominable Snow Monster will help Santa save Christmas during three North American tours visiting 50 cities.

“Because our inaugural run was so popular, we will have three tours this year in an effort to bring Rudolph and his friends to even more families and young theatregoers across North America,” says Producing Partner Jonathan Flom.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical” practically transports audience members into the television special with all of the beloved original songs and a recreation of the original set and costume design for the stage. The cast brings new energy to the classic story and dialogue, while irresistible and lovable puppets help showcase the original charm of the television show’s stop-motion effects. “We address all of the familiar story elements from the television special with a talented cast and puppeteers who help recreate the magic on stage,” says Producing Partner Bob Penola.

The story tells the tale of a young Rudolph who, because of the appearance of his bright, shining nose, is ousted from the reindeer games in Christmas-town. He flees town, meets up with new friends Hermey and Yukon, and a series of funny and endearing adventures ensue including a visit to The Island of Misfit Toys. Rudolph journeys home, where a snowstorm of epic proportions is threatening Christmas.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical” is produced by Iconic Entertainment Studios, Right Angle Entertainment and Wishing Star Productions.

Rudolph and his friends will visit the Rosemont Theatre (5400 North River Rd. in Rosemont, IL) for four performances on Friday, December 18 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, December 19 at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets ($29.50 - $75) are on sale now and can be purchased at ticketmaster.com, or by calling 866-448-7849. Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® Presents Circus XTREME Newest Edition of The Greatest Show On Earth® Blends Extremes for the Ultimate Family Entertainment Experience

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® Presents Circus XTREME features artists who redefine the word extreme in everything they do, magnifying traditional elements of the circus and combining them with never-before-seen spectacles, original fast-paced performances and incredibly hilarious moments.

The multi-year tour offers extreme thrills, exotic animals and extraordinary performers that add up to the ultimate family entertainment experience. High-wire wizards, powerful strongmen, BMX trick riders, trampoline daredevils, inconceivable contortionists, a high-flying human cannonball, a bungee aerial skydiving display and an international assembly of more than 100 world-renowned artists provide 2 ½ hours of thrilling entertainment. With such an exciting lineup, The Greatest Show On Earth® guarantees to dazzle and astound, and a Ringling Bros.® show wouldn’t be complete without a full menagerie of amazing animals.

Circus XTREME features beautiful Bengal tigers, two-humped camels ridden by brave Mongolian women, impressive horses and the most popular members of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey family: the magnificent Asian elephants.

“We pulled from the realm of extreme sports and competitive acrobatics and brought them into the world of the circus, making this the most contemporary show we’ve ever created,” says Producer Alana Feld. “We’ve also pushed the limits of all of our amazing artists and performers to create new and different exhilarating elements, providing audiences with extreme family fun.”

“With Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Presents Circus XTREME, we wanted to create a show that keeps pace with modern families and caters to the ‘edge-of-the-seat’ thrill that parents and kids are seeking in live entertainment,” says Producer Nicole Feld. “The experience is enhanced by the interactivity of our All Access Pre-Show, and as a mom, I know that’s my daughter’s favorite part.”

The party starts an hour before the show at the All Access Pre-show, which is free with your ticket purchase. You and your family can meet our international cast of performers and get up close to our menagerie of animals. Try on custom costumes, learn circus skills — like juggling and walking the low wire — from the famous Ringling Bros.® Clown Alley and even have the opportunity to win a one-of-a-kind masterpiece created by one of our very own Ringling Bros. painting pachyderms.

Ticketholders can purchase an upgrade and go backstage with a VIP Behind the Scenes Tour of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey. The backstage experience includes an insider look at props and wardrobe, an up close and personal encounter with the animals and a chance to meet stars from the show. Fans will also have an opportunity to take pictures and learn educational fun facts. To take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime experience, just log on to ringlingbros.expapp.com from your iPhone or Android smartphone and provide your name, e-mail and phone number to become a VIP circus insider.
