Win A Disc Wednesday: The Limiñanas (And/Or A $135 Language Class at Multilingual Chicago!)

This week we have something extra special for our Wednesday give
away. Win a $135 kids foreign language class at Multilingual Chicago
and/or the fabulous self titled French CD, by The Limiñanas, on Chicago's own Troubleinmind Records.

At ChiIL Mama, we love to seek out multicultural events and
experiences to enrich our lives. We've taught our kids from day one,
that the world is full of interesting, unique traditions, food and
customs. People are similar all over the world in the major ways
that make us all human, and yet we're all different in exciting ways,

When we expose kids to different languages, we give them the
key to communicate with others, the confidence to reach beyond their
comfort zone, and the kernel of knowledge that may bloom into a life
long love of languages and travel. I also teach the kids that
curious, creative people never stop learning and growing, even when
they're grown ups.

Multilingual Chicago in Logan Square can start your children on an
exciting linguistic adventure, or continue your own education.

If you'd like to find out about their Spanish, French, Mandarin - and now Korean, Italian and Hindi - classes for kids 1-3 and 3-5 years old, register for their free Kids Language Fair on Oct. 23rd!  More information and registration here:

adventures to remember, and wisdom to impart.

The Limiñanas brand new release.   (will ship winner's CD anywhere in the US)

As Dan Zanes so eloquently says at the start of All Around The Kitchen, one of our videos on The ChiIL Mama YouTube Channel, "Before there was children's music, there was just music that everyone listened to as a shared experience."   This is not meant to be kids music, but there is no reason your kids won't love it, too.   And they might just pick up some French along the way!

We've been playing The Limiñanas CD in the car and all enjoying it, since the day we got it.   These guys are good.
Getting their start in October of 2009, The Limiñanas are the brainchild of Lio and Marie Limiñana. Beginning as a home studio project the duo spent much time flipping through John Barry and Ennio Morricone LP's and books on Victorian era architecture, watching Noir films, and basking in the sun of southern France seeking inspiration.

Their first single came by way of Chicago's venerable Hozac records, followed up by a single 7" release, “Je-ne-suis-pas-tres-drogue”, on Trouble In Mind in April 2010. It's been noted that there are traces of Serge Gainsbourg, Beck, Stereolab, Gospel, Yeh-Yeh, guitar fuzz freakouts, and Nugget's-era stompers in the Limiñanas music. All of which may be true, but Limiñanas' sound is irreverent and singular.
